As everything returns to normalcy, the fashion weeks have now resumed from online to in person. After the New York and Milan Fashion Week of 2022, it is now the turn of Paris Fashion Week for Fall/Winter. The schedule for Paris Fashion Week 2022 is out and, to our pleasure, started on 28th of February. Here is all you need to know about the Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022 Day 1.
Off-White Fall/Winter Collection 2022
The first fashion brand to kick-start this rousing show for the year 2022 was Off-White. The Milan-based luxury brand paid tribute to Virgil Abloh who passed away in November 2021 after battling a rare cancer. This runway marks the final contribution of Abloh to the brand and it takes our breath away! The show, named “Spaceship Earth” was more of a celebration or tribute than a show for the late fashion designer.
This posthumous Off-White’s latest fall collection 2022 is as phenomenal as expected. Featuring a star studded runway, Off-White presents its collection through various models such as Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Adut Akech. Several models and stars were seen walking this Virgil Abloh’s memorial show much to our appreciation.
The 23-time champion, Serena Williams, has modeled for her own fashion line shows previously. But Monday 28th February was the first time she walked for a major luxury brand. Yes! Williams was spotted modeling and paying tribute to her long-time collaborator and the late designer Virgil Abloh. The tennis champion had been a muse for Abloh and had been the inspiration for Abloh’s first Nike Collection in 2018.
The ready to wear collection of Off-White is as mesmerizing and stunning as always. Other than the ready-to-wear collection, as the metaphor Spaceship Earth, it featured the high fashion line designed by Abloh and completed by the fashion teams and collaborators. The show started off with Pharell Williams modeling in an elevated hoodie and a cargo gear bearing a white flag quoting “Question Everything”.
The following 84 looks out of which the 28 high fashion looks can be extensively explained with the number of hours, the embroidery and most importantly the ‘back stories’ for each of them. The health struggle of Abloh was portrayed through the two handbags held by Cindy Crawford. “MORE LIFE” was what one mentioned and another one as a red and white pill, as if indicating a secret message to all of us.
The parent company of Off-White, New Guards Group, streamed the show through 100 storefronts across the entire Paris. Be it boutiques, barbers shop, pharmacies, any store installed with a TV had the show running. This memorable and inspirational tribute to the very talented, Virgil Abloh, has captured our hearts!
