Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons offered 48 looks with a nostalgia play for the Spring/Summer Collection by uniting gingham of the feminine world with masculine menswear at Milan Fashion Week.
The fashion show, held on the 19th of June 2022, was set against an oversized house interior, with white walls, gingham curtains, and a pale brown floor made of paper. The collection unfolded to a Sonic Youth soundtrack playing inside Fondazione Prada as a concession of tailoring appeared, blended in the colors of undeniable exquisite. The collection is titled “Prada Choices,” which is too apt as if the creative duo has already selected your uniform for the season.

Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada proved this to be their most harmonious collection to date- a collection that perfectly captures the formal side of the Italian House and Simons’ playful, youthful and edgy style.
“We are attracted to the idea of ‘normal’ clothing — to classic pieces, archetypes, the garderobe. But the same garment in different materializations changes their language entirely; they function in different ways. Then mixing that with other pieces transforms it again. Every garment is simple, direct, pure, but there is a complexity to their combinations and context. The garments are classic, but their mix contradicts, making them exciting and new. There is leather against the body, then cotton on top — there’s a kind of anti-logic to the combination of the clothes, an oddness. A combination of rawness and sophistication in these clothes is also important. The contrast of classicism and a spontaneity lends it a sensitivity, an emotion.”

The outfits were mixed and matched accordingly depending on the occasion. There were suits, overcoats, sweaters, shirts, denim, and leather that featured in the Prada SS23 Menswear Collection. The runway presented a variety of outfits, such as a single or 1.5-breasted coat, checkered shirt, sleeveless tops, cool sneakers, striped rib knits, cowboy boots, and double denim.
The outfits gave us unusual but fresh pairs this season in red, blue, pink, black, and other colors. Leather paired with cotton shirts and knit wears, overcoats, and boots dwelled into the complexity of the uncommon pairings, making them seem more exquisite for us!
